• The Beginning • I’m Cassie. I'm a full-time artist specializing in painting, photography, and videography. As I kid, I was always outside playing with bugs (hence the cicada logo) and then grew up into a quirky, laid-back, patient, coffee-fueled-adult who likes to still play pretend through finding fun ways to create art. I strive for my personal or explorative projects to be infused with emotion, music, film, and a touch of the spooky or dark. You'll find me displaying my work in Detroit art exhibitions, live painting at festivals, or sneaking around capturing feels at a wedding. explorative

• Artsy Awakening • I’ve always loved creating things with my hands, finding joy in a variety of mediums— whether it’s painting, drawing, or jewelry and costume crafting. Then one day my teen-me picked up a camera and dabbled in angsty Myspace self portraits and pretend music videos. Then my first job was in a photo studio in 2007 at 16 years old. Shortly after I then transitioned into wedding photography, working with other photographers for some years before branching out on my own. My passion for capturing moments grew even more as I attended festivals, collaborating with musicians and other creatives. Shooting with a camera can be an exhilarating and rewarding experience, not only do I enjoy the ever-constant learning experience, but also capturing all the love and color life has to offer. explorative

• All the love! • I've been shooting weddings for about 17 years. For me, it's more than just “capturing your day'“, and it’s about being the least stressful part of your day—like fixing your escaped hair strands or lifting your dress to skip through a field of goose poop. While you're preparing for the best happy day ever, I'll be quietly documenting all of it (while resisting the urge to squeeze your fur babies). One of my favorite aspects of weddings is connecting with you, your friends and families, and experiencing the day alongside you. I find excitement in creating something that authentically reflects who you are, and naturally tells your story. I’ll likely be spending the entire day with you, my goal is to ensure you feel comfortable throughout. I enjoy focusing on shadows, color, and contrast. My style leans more towards the more “alternative” style, rather than traditional. I embrace an editorial/photojournalistic approach and avoid getting caught up in editing trends.
