WE ARE CASSANDRA JAMES.

We met during the last night of Electric Forest 2019. We both came to the festival for the same reason that thousands of other come, to experience 4 days of love, adventure, dancing from sunrise to sunset, and meeting many friends as possible. On the last night of the festival when the most of the lights shut off, cleaning crews came out, we were both walking alone back to our campsites and quite literally walked into each other’s path. From behind me I heard, “ Hey, you have really cute hair.” and I smiled immediately and replied to the voice, “ Thanks! “ We decided to stop at the food vending to get iced coffee and pizza, and after a bit of chatting into what became a pink sunrise, we soon discovered that we were both into lots of the same things, and fell for each other. But of course after he kissed me I got nervous giraffe legs.

We both have passions for traveling, art, music, animals, making things, watching spooky things, and just enjoying love & living. I was a momma of two tiny kitties (Dewey & Cricket), and now we are both parents to a silly dobie (Theo) and happily raising our fur-family. If there is a heaven it’s probably a lot like this and smells like puppies, and crab legs with butter.

We get excitement out of capturing raw emotions and memories of people, and getting to know other couples who are quirky and crazy about one another in this life. We put our whole hearts into each other and everything we do, and into every connection we have with the people we meet.

Call me Cassie. I am a full-time artist, painter, photographer and videographer. As a kid I was into exploring and playing with bugs (if you haven't noticed the cicada logo.) I’m weird most of the time, but laid back and patient. I enjoy inhaling coffee while working on projects that involve emotions, music, absolute films, and anything spooky or dark! I am often showing artwork downtown Detroit in art exhibitions. I'm driven by the process of creating art, and love meeting genuine people who dream hard and passionate about creating. I believe in kindness & supporting one other along the way to get to that thing you push so hard to get to.

• How I started • Since I was little I’ve been a making things with my hands. I never stuck with one medium whether it was painting, drawing, or creating costumes and crafts. Then I discovered a camera. My first job was in a photo studio in 2009 when I was 16. Then I fell into wedding photography, working alongside other photographers for a couple years, and then eventually branched off on my own. My passion for capturing memories blossomed when I starting meeting people I connected with, at large festivals and events, DJs/producers, musicians, and other creatives. Shooting photo or video is exhilarating and rewarding, finding all the love and color in life. My perfect client is one that appreciates creativity and an artistic eye.

• Weddings • I've been shooting weddings about 15 years - and for me, it's more than just "capturing your day,” it’s also about being the least stressful thing on your day, fixing your hair when you need it, or lifting your dress over a mine field of goose poop. While you are preparing for an amazing and happy day, I will be quietly documenting (while resisting the urge to squeeze your fur babies). One of my favorite things about shooting weddings is making a connection with you, your families, and just experiencing the day with you. I get excitement out of creating something that shows who you are and telling your story, naturally. I will likely be spending the whole day with you, and I want to make sure you're comfortable throughout. I enjoy a strong emphasis on shadows, color and contrast. I’m probably considered more of an "alternative" type instead of traditional photo/videographer. I’m more on the editorial/photojournalistic side, but I don’t get caught up in editing trends. I also do not believe in over-editing your photos in a way that does not appear to be the actual or natural you. I would love to know what your vision is too! So, if you think we'll be a good fit, let’s chat!
